MYA BINDER
As a native Wisconsinite from Milwaukee, Mya moved to Texas in high school where she found her passion for customer service in the retail world. She started with Agaci and worked her way up to Keyholder-Manager at Cotton On by the age of 18. During that time, Mya focused on the nature of customer service, working with her customers to help form their unique and creative style to look and feel their best no matter where they go. She was an inspired fashionista creating her own version of her unique style and incorporating it with the style of her customers. As a manager, Mya was able to build leadership skills to not only succeed in achieving their goals, but also maintaining them.
Mya’s awareness of the importance of self love, and the role that stylists play in achieving that, is what called her to the beauty industry. “Nothing feels better than helping others feel good in their own skin,” is ultimately what started her path. She began by watching videos of master styling, coloring, and cutting. Through those videos, she became fascinated watching stylists create art in their design and watching their clients fall in love with themselves. She enrolled in the Toni & Guy Academy and successfully completed the program in 2022, having been recognized for her perfect attendance and receiving a student of the month award. After graduating and earning her license, Mya took her first steps into the hair industry by joining the Blow Dry Bar. She was excited to finally get her hands in hair and experience her own creation of style with blow drying. While the success she experienced was exciting, Mya felt like she wanted more from her newfound ability. In June of 2022, she began her apprenticeship at LUX Machine with a mentor. Beginning with the fundamentals of hair, she added to her toolbox by taking several educational classes both inside and out of the salon. Some of those classes include product knowledge, color theory, master styling, hair cutting expertise, time management, and so much more. She also completed her Master Certification in Bellami Hair Extensions in the spring of 2024.
Mya is excited to be on this path. She knows her purpose in the hair industry is to help her guests feel and look their best while building a bond of trust with each one. As her journey continues, Mya looks forward to fulfilling all of her guest’s requested services while ensuring each time they walk in and out of the salon that they are looking and feeling their best.
During her down time, Mya enjoys the outdoors with her cat, Kitty, and her Frenchie, Jet, while listening to music.
